In a Los Angeles hospital during the 1920s, a young immigrant girl named Alexandria (Catinca Untaru) is recovering from a broken arm. She befriends Roy Walker (Lee Pace), a bedridden stuntman who was paralyzed after an accident on set. Roy begins telling her an epic, fantastical tale about a group of outcast heroes seeking revenge against an evil ruler. As the line between reality and imagination blurs, Roy’s grand story reflects his own fragile emotional state, and Alexandria weaves herself and the people around her into his vivid mental landscape
