Join us in welcoming the first guest artist in the 2025-26 Visiting Artist Lecture Series! 

Shannon Ebner’s conceptually driven practice explores the visual, material and temporal circumstances of language using photographic means. In addition to exhibitions, Ebner makes books. Ebner’s recent show “THE SEAWEED SYNTHESIZER” at kaufmann repetto, New York was accompanied by the publication SUBSOUND (Apogee Graphics, Los Angeles), a call-and-response public communication: SEE EAR SEA HEAR. NOISE IS NOISE. & SOUND UND SOUND. TIMBER, TIMBRE.

Shannon Ebner’s work has been exhibited widely in the United States and Europe, and is included in the public collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Bard Hessel Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Ebner’s work has also been included in group exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Tate Modern, London; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; the Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Moscow Museum of Modern Art; Presentation House, Vancouver; and Künstlerhaus Austria.
