About the Event

Two Films by Morgan Fisher

Rice’s Visual and Dramatic Arts department will screen two films by the Los Angeles visual artist and experimental filmmaker Morgan Fisher at 6:30pm on Saturday, February 16th. Following the screening, Rice art professors Lisa Lapinski and John Sparagana will be in conversation with Bruce Hainley, co-curator of Morgan Fisher / Passing Time, a survey exhibition of Fisher’s work at REDCAT in Los Angeles.

“Standard Gauge is a work of great ambition and incredible richness … it is a major work of avant-garde cinema, and deserves a place in that canon alongside classics such as Frampton’s Zorn’s Lemma and Snow’s Wavelength.  Anyone interested in the art of film should go see it.”

Alan Williams, Film Quarterly
