Close out the semester with a film conceived by Tim Burton and directed in stop motion by the brilliant Henry Selick. The King of Halloween Town discovers Christmas and decides to do it his way. Featuring Chris Sarandon as Jack (and Danny Elfman as the singing Jack), the great Catherine O’Hara as Sally, and many other greats like Paul Reubens, Glenn Shadiix, and William Hickey as the evil scientist. Featuring songs by Elfman as well. “This is the kind of movie older kids will eat up; it has the kind of offbeat, subversive energy that tells them wonderful things are likely to happen. As an adult who was not particularly scared by the abduction of Santa (somehow I knew things would turn out all right), I found the movie a feast for the eyes and the imagination.” Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
