About the Event

The Deer’s Tooth
Directed by Saif Hammash
(Palestine, 2024, 16 min.)
Sunday, May 4, 4:00 PM

The film centers around a young man from a refugee camp who embarks on a perilous journey in order to fulfill his little brother’s wish: to throw his milk tooth into the sea.

Thank You for Banking with Us
Directed by Laila Abbas
(Palestine, 2024, 92 min.)

There’s little love lost between Palestinian sisters Mariam (Clara Khoury), a frazzled mum of two, and Noura (Yasmine Al Massri), single and, as a beauty technician, regarded as the family disappointment. But one thing they agree on is that when their elderly father dies, leaving a considerable amount of cash in a savings account, the money should go to the daughters who cared for him – rather than the absentee brother who moved to America. Society’s patriarchal structures make this tricky to achieve, however. Over an eventful night in Ramallah, life starts to unravel but the women rediscover a sisterly bond.
