About the Event

5 Broken Cameras
Directed by Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi
(Palestine/Israel, 2011, 94 min.)

Friday, January 19, 7:00 PM

In 2005, Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat bought his first camera, mostly to film his youngest son. As time went by, Burnat recorded the struggle of Palestinians. With co-filmmaker Israeli Guy Davidi, they have created a history of the Palestinian people during this period, marked by the destruction of his cameras. A classic activist documentary, nominated for an Academy award.

“An essential work both on filmmaking and political activism” — Slant

“A rigorous and moving work of art” — A.O. Scott, New York Times
