About the Event

Rice Cinema presents:

BYOChair Movie Night
Saturday, August 29 @ 8 PM
Lot 6 (behind Rice Media Center)

Join VADA and Rice Cinema for a series of monthly outdoor screenings this fall. We invite you to bring your own chair or blanket, snacks, and all things cozy to enjoy a fun film outdoors.

USA, 2007, 120 min
Director: Adam Shankman

In 1960s Baltimore, dance-loving teen Tracy Turnblad auditions for a spot on “The Corny Collins Show” and wins. She becomes an overnight celebrity, a trendsetter in dance, fun and fashion. Perhaps her new status as a teen sensation is enough to topple Corny’s reigning dance queen and bring racial integration to the show.

Lot 6 opens: 8:00 PM
Entry cutoff time: 8:45 PM
Film begins: 9:00 PM
Film ends: 11:00 PM

Rice Cinema asks all guests to abide by Rice University’s COVID-19 safety protocols of wearing a facial mask and maintaining social distancing.

Reservations are on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

In the event of rain the screening will be moved indoors and capacity will be reduced to meet safety protocols. Seats will be offered to attendees based on submission date of their reservation.
