Tish Stringer is currently lecturer and film program manager in the Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts at Rice University, where she teachers film production and manages the technical needs of Rice Cinema and the film production program. Tish has instructed people from 8 to 80 on making videos in a wide variety of settings.
An accomplished documentary filmmaker, Tish has presented her work on video activism, the global justice movement, resource management and Iraqi-artists-in-exile in academic, arts and activist contexts throughout the US and around the world. Tish has been the recipient of filmmaking grants from The Eastman Foundation, The Houston Arts Alliance and the SouthWest Alternate Media Project. She is also the founder of Dangerous Media, a Houston-based media production company.
Tish holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from Rice University and a B.A. Summa Cum Laude in Anthropology and Cultural Studies from the University of Minnesota
